IP address is the physical location where your web site files are stored.
A domain name points to your IP address, hence points to your web site. If you move from one web host to another, you then have to point your domain name from the old host IP address (location) to your new IP address allocated by your new host (location).
In other words, your domain name (identity) is usually pointed to the location (IP address) of your web site files. |
